Festival of Friends Shuttle

The HSR released information about the shuttle to the Festival of Friends next weekend.

The shuttle will operate from downtown Hamilton and run express to the Ancaster fairgrounds. Buses will depart on King Street opposite MacNab Street every fifteen minutes at :00, :15, :30 and :45 passed the hour.

Service begins on Friday August 10th at 4:30pm and runs until 10pm. On Saturday and Sunday the first shuttle will depart downtown Hamilton at 11:30am with the final departure of the evening leaving King opposite MacNab at 10pm.

Buses will depart the Ancaster Fairgrounds at gate #2 at :05, :20, :35 and :50 with the first departure at 5:05pm on Friday, 12pm on Saturday and 12:05pm on Sunday. The final departure for all three nights will will take place at 11:35pm.

In addition to the stop on King St the shuttle will also stop on Main Street West opposite MacNab to let off passengers.

One notable change this year is the fare method for the shuttle. While the Festival of Friends shuttle was a free shuttle last year, Hamilton City Council voted to charge the regular HSR fare for the shuttle this year. A $2.55 cash fare, ticket, monthly pass or PRESTO card can be used.

Perhaps the best value for festival goers is to purchase an HSR Day Pass. The pass costs $9.00 and allows unlimited travel on board buses all day. The pass can be used for the following combinations of passengers:

- 1 rider, any age, all day.
- 2 riders, any age, all day.
- 2 adults and up to 4 youths/children 19 and under, travelling as a group.
- 1 adult, and up to 5 youths/children 19 and under, travelling as a group.
- All youths/children - up to 6 youths/children 19 and under, travelling as a group.

  1. The festival begins at 3:45 Friday with a performance of Ariana Gillis a local performer from St. Catharines. The shuttle doesn't begin til 4:30. Bummer.
