Turn in Tickets and Save Presto Issuance Fee

The Hamilton Street Railway Company has launched a new initiative to promote the use of Presto, the new universal fare card in southern Ontario.

The program, called "Turn in Tickets & Tap Onto Transit" allows transit users a new incentive to make the switch. For the month of July, the HSR will waive the $6.00 issuance fee on a new Presto card when you trade in a strip of five valid HSR adult tickets. Five adult HSR tickets have a value of $10, and that amount will be loaded onto the new Presto card.

The card can be uses right away and can be reloaded at the HSR Customer Service Centre inside the Hamilton GO Centre as well as at the GO Transit kiosk. Presto can also be reloaded at most GO Transit locations and Presto self-service kiosks.

This special deal is only available at the HSR customer service centre inside Hamilton GO Centre during the month of July during normal business hours Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm. One Presto card per customer while supplies last.

Presto is an electronic fare payment system that is accepted in multiple transit agencies in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, including Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and GO Transit. Using the card is as easy as tapping the card reader on board the bus. The system calculates the correct fare and deducts it from the card balance.

For the Hamilton Street Railway the Presto fare is $2.00, the same as the ticket price. A monthly 'period' pass can also be loaded onto the card.
