New HSR Buses Have Arrived

The City of Hamilton and the HSR has ordered 23 new buses which have started to arrive at the Mountain Transit Centre. The rest of the New Flyer Xcelsiors are currently in production at the plant in Winnipeg.

New Flyer states in their brochure that the Xcelsiors have better fuel economy and lighter weight, which should make the buses more cost effective. The buses also have disc brakes and the industry’s first LED headlights.

Several other transit agencies around the Golden Horseshoe also operate these buses, including St. Catharines and Welland (Niagara Region Transit), Oakville, Brampton, and London.

It is unknown at this time when the buses will enter service. but this is likely to happen sometime in the spring.
